Vice President
Nicklas Baran

I'm a second-year Master's student in Urban and Reginal Planning working under the supervision of Dr. Jeff Birchall in the climate Adaption and Resilience Lab. My research looks at implementation of the ecosystem services concept into urban planning and development, green stormwater infrastructure, and local-scale climate adaption. I am thrilled to be your ATLAS VP this year.

Amanda Kotila

I am a second year Master's student working with Dr. Chris Herd. My research focuses on organic contamination on the surface of meteorites and the implications this has for advanced curation methods.

Kira Holland

I am a PhD student working with Dr. Alison Criscitiello in the Canadian Ice Core Lab (CICL). My research uses the geochemistry of high-latitude glacier ice cores to understand ocean-atmosphere variability since the late Pleistocene.

Scott Cocker

Hi, I’m Scott, and I am a second year PhD student working with Dr Duane Froese. My research is focused on applying ancient DNA to understand the ecological history of the mammoth steppe in east Beringia (Yukon Territory and Alaska) prior to it's collapse ~13,000 years ago. I am particularly fond of arctic ground squirrels and their middens that have been preserved in the permafrost for up to 8000,000 years. This is my second year on the ATLAS committee as co-organizer of the ATLAS Talk Series.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator/EAS Ambassador
Avni Patel

I’m a second year PhD student working with Dr. Sasha Wilson looking at characterising transformation pathways in Mg-Ca carbonates and noting the effects on transition metal mobility and isotopic fractionation during these non-classical mineral transformations. The work is relevant to carbon capture and utilisation and palaeonvironmental reconstruction.
