Nicklas Baran

nbaran@ualberta.ca

I am a first-year Urban and Regional Planning Master's' student. My interests are in environmental, resiliency, and land-use planning.

ATLAS Talk Series Organizer

Scott Cocker

scocker@ualberta.ca

Hi, I’m Scott, and I am a first year PhD student working with Dr Duane Froese. My research focus is on reconstructing dynamics of the steppe megafauna and the environments they lived in from east Beringia over the past 50 000 years by using ancient DNA, pollen and plant macrofossils preserved in permafrost.

ATLAS Symposium Coordinator

Kristina Kublik

kkublik@ualberta.ca

I’m a second year MSc student working with Drs. Graham Pearson and Claire Currie. My project uses computer models to study possible scenarios that facilitate cratonic basin formation in the Neoarchean.

Social Convener

Brielle Andersen

banderse@ualberta.ca

I'm a first year master's student under Drs Ben Rostron and Duane Froese studying hydrogeology in Central Alberta. I will mainly use geophysical techniques to delineate aquifer extent. I'm excited to facilitate all things social in ALTAS this year!

I am a first year student in the MSc. Urban and Regional Planning program. My interests are architecture, permaculture, and community resilience through thoughtful urban design.

EAS Ambassador

Avni Patel

avni1@ualberta.ca

I’m a first year PhD student working with Dr. Sasha Wilson looking at characterising transformation pathways in Mg-Ca carbonates and noting the effects on transition metal mobility and isotopic fractionation during these non-classical mineral transformations. The work is relevant to carbon capture and utilisation and palaeonvironmental reconstruction.
